I just want Dennis to be an entirely ineffectual villain through the entire series once he inevitably starts trying to sabotage the lancers. Like, no matter what he does and no matter how blatantly he tries to screw things up he ends up helping the situation. Like so:
The gang is in a tight spot in a duel:
Dennis: Aw dang guys I’ve got this, this facedown card will save our asses when they try to use their monster effect (little do they know that I’m not going to activate it)
Yuya: I activate spell card
Villain: that activates my monster effect
Yuya: I ACTIVATE THE TRAP CARD SET BY MY BEST FRIEND DENNIS!
Dennis: YOU CAN ACTIVATE AN ALLY’S FACEDOWN CARD ON YOUR OWN TURN? EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!? Camera pans up to the sky.
Reiji, at the sidelines: This Dennis guy is really into his character, playing comic relief in a tough situation like this, what a great guy.
And, in a seperate instance:
Dennis: (nyah ha ha, this time it’ll be great, I’m going to tear this group apart from the inside out, nobody will know who put this terrible card in Reiji’s deck, then it’ll be a dead draw in a duel soon)
Reiji: Lancer meeting, everyone.
Reiji: it seems that some unusual cards have shown up in my deck. They truly were terrible cards.
Reiji: However, I’ve been able to examine them and see one loophole, therefore this is a necessary card for each and every one of your decks. This single card will be essential in the fight against Academia.
And in a free-for-all duel:
Dennis: IT’S TIME FOR ME TO SHOW YOU GUYS MY TRUE COLORS, GO, ENTERMAGE TRAPEZE MAGICIAN, ATTACK YUYA AND WIPE OUT HIS LIFE POINTS. I NEVER REALLY WAS ON YOUR SIDE!
Yuya: I ACTIVATE PERFORMAPAL PINCH HELPER, NEGATING THE ATTACK AND ALLOWING ME TO SUMMON HAMMER MAMMOTH FROM MY DECK. ORE NO TAAN, DORAWWWW! GO HAMMER MAMMOTH, WIN THE GAME FOR US.
Yuya: Maybe lay off a bit on the acting there Dennis, we all know you’re an entertainer but you don’t need to pretend to be one of them, we were gonna win whether or not you acted like that. Even Sawatari could have seen that I had Pinch Helper as a facedown.
Dennis: B-but I’m a proud warrior of Academia…
Serena: This guy really is a big method actor.
Yuya: Yeah, there’s no way somebody who likes my dad that much can be a bad guy.
Right before a riding duel:
Dennis: Heh heh, it took me all night, but Shun’s D-Wheel isn’t going anywhere today. Looks like someone won’t be getting his tenth win after all. So sad.
Gallager: Sorry champ, no riding, no dueling, you know the rules. My customers expect top-of-the-line thrills, after all. Well, maybe it’s for the best. Wouldn’t want to see the new king dethroned so soon!
Shun: What do you mean “so soon”?
